From everyday objects and industrial products to glass, wood and sculptural works, Wirkkala’s designs became an integral part of Finnish life while also establishing his international reputation.
Through interviews with family members, friends and colleagues, together with extensive archival material, the film examines Wirkkala’s working methods and his approach to design. His deep connection with nature, particularly the landscapes of Finnish Lapland, and his fascination with Italian art and culture emerge as important sources of inspiration.
