Collection by Aalto

Alvar Aalto’s glass pieces are true icons of Finnish design. Inspired by Finnish nature, he created simple yet organic forms where form and function exist as one. Compared to the decorative objects of the time, this flowing, asymmetrical style was a revolutionary statement.

After winning first prize in the 1936 Karhula-Iittala Glass Design Competition, his designs caught the world's attention at the 1937 Paris World Exhibition. The most famous of these is the Aalto Vase, also known as the Savoy Vase. Since then, it has become an enduring symbol of Scandinavian design and one of the most famous glass objects in the world. Over the decades, the Aalto collection has grown to include vases and bowls in various sizes and colours, while the distinctive flowing form has remained at its heart.

Today, Aalto’s glass designs are highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts around the world. On this page, you will find a selection of Alvar Aalto glass objects, each carrying forward one of the most influential forms in Finnish design.
