Helena Tynell’s Aurinkopullo, or Sun Bottle, is one of the most recognisable works of Finnish glass design. Tynell designed it for Riihimäen Lasi as early as 1963, with production beginning in 1964 and continuing until 1974. The bottle takes its name from its sunray-like relief pattern, which gives the glass its distinctive radiance and brings the surface to life as it catches the light.

Aurinkopullo was produced in four sizes, known among collectors as 1/4, 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4. In addition to the different sizes, the bottles were created in an exceptionally diverse range of colours – with at least 19 different colour variations known, ranging from clear and yellow to shades of green, blue, brown and violet.
