The Story
Aimo Okkolin’s 1965 "Tähti" for Riihimäen Lasi is a pinnacle of Finnish crystal art. This sculptural object is mold-blown and precision-ground, featuring geometric facets that create stellar symmetry and intense light refraction. Okkolin, Finland’s foremost master of crystal cutting, utilized optical depth, allowing the piece to shift its appearance from a star to a diamond depending on the angle. Due to its technical demands, it is one of Okkolin's most sought-after works, offering long-term investment value. The piece embodies mid-20th-century Finnish design, where crystal's brilliance and strict geometry unite perfectly. It is a luxurious object held in prestigious design collections worldwide. Pristine, signed examples represent a valuable part of Nordic glass heritage, symbolizing a level of craftsmanship that is becoming increasingly rare.
