The bird’s body is crafted from delicate opal glass, providing a characteristic glow that emphasizes its black cap and beak details. Its status as an Annual Bird ensures significantly higher collection value compared to standard pieces, as it was produced in limited quantities for one year only. Marking a milestone in design history, this work is a mandatory, prestigious find for collectors. Due to its limited availability, "Lapintiira" offers long-term investment value. It unites Toikka's stylized form with technical mastery, representing a pinnacle of Finnish glass art.

Oiva Toikka
Oiva Kalervo Toikka (1931 – 2019) was the great rebel of Finnish design, famously choosing exuberant color and whimsical shapes over the strict minimalism of his peers. While his Kastehelmi (Dewdrop) and Flora tableware became instant classics, his most legendary achievement is the Birds by Toikka collection. Starting in 1972, he created a mesmerizing flock of over 400 mouth-blown glass birds, each a unique masterpiece of imagination and craftsmanship. Toikka’s work is a celebration of joy, reminding us that design can be both world-class and wonderfully playful.
