Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg
Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg (1905–1993). Born in Austria but becoming a pillar of Finnish design, Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg is the woman who brought the ancient "rice grain" porcelain technique into the modern era. After years of relentless experimentation at the Arabia factory, she successfully revived this lost Ming-dynasty secret, creating translucent porcelain pieces where light dances through delicate, grain-shaped cutouts. Her work represents the pinnacle of technical grace, turning hard ceramic into something that feels as light and ethereal as lace.
