The series takes its name from Saint Hubert, Bishop of Maastricht, who, according to legend, encountered a white stag with a crucifix between its antlers while hunting. Hubert became associated with hunting and has been depicted as its patron saint in Northern European art since the Renaissance. \u003cspan class=\"contents\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eThe Hubertus Tureen was introduced in 1994 as part of the series, alongside the deer sauce bowl and plates. Its richly detailed decoration was created using serigraphy, with each colour transferred separately to the ceramic surface. The tureen was one of the more elaborate forms in the series, combining a substantial serving vessel with Dorrit von Fieandt's distinctive nature- and hunting-themed imagery.
