Inspired by the Finnish word for willow, the design combines flowing floral and leaf-like brushwork with varying shades of blue, creating a lively rhythm against the white faience. The ND teapot is one of the forms used for the Paju decoration. Its rounded shape gives the hand-painted composition room to unfold across the body, while the darker blue bands on the lid and lower section create a strong contrast with the lighter decoration. Produced by Arabia from 1970 to 1972, Paju was used on several different forms and is less commonly encountered than many of Arabia's better-known decorative series.
