The series takes its name from Saint Hubert, the medieval Bishop of Maastricht, who, according to legend, encountered a white stag with a crucifix between its antlers while hunting. Hubert became associated with hunting and has been depicted as its patron saint in Northern European art since the Renaissance. \u003cspan class=\"contents\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchor\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eThe Hubertus sauce boat with lid was introduced in 1994, alongside the fox-hunting tureen and plates. Its richly detailed decoration combines imagery of nature and hunting with Dorrit von Fieandt's distinctive artistic language. The Hubertus decoration was created using serigraphy, with colours transferred separately to the ceramic surface, while the sauce boat and tureen were also partly hand-painted according to the artist's instructions.
