Inspired by the Finnish word for willow, the design combines flowing floral and leaf-like brushwork with varying shades of blue, creating a lively rhythm against the white faience. The AB platter is one of the larger formats used for the Paju decoration. Its broad surface gives the hand-painted composition room to unfold, while the variations in brushwork and colour intensity make each piece subtly individual. Produced by Arabia from 1970 to 1972, Paju was used on several different forms and is less commonly encountered than many of Arabia's better-known decorative series.
